Corian® – The original solid surface

Corian® is manufactured by DuPont and is a material composed of acrylic resin and natural minerals. It is the original solid surface. Corian® has a consistent color, pattern, and texture all the way through. If you cut a piece of Corian® cross-wise, you will see that the properties inside the slab are exactly the same as the ones you see on top.

Corian® comes in many colors. Colors range from a solid Vanilla to a Saffron which has warm golden veins swirling through a light translucent base with a range of light particles. If you can’t find the perfect color after searching through the Corian® color collections, DuPont offers color matching to get the exact color that you need.

Stain resistant

Corian®‘s most famous benefit is its resistance to stains. As a non-porous surface, Corian® countertops are not likely to stain if spills are cleaned up immediately. If a spill is left to linger and a stain does occur, it can be buffed out with a scouring pad revealing more of the same color and texture. Hard scrubbing is not needed because, like Soapstone, Corian® is a relatively malleable substance.

Environmentally safe

Corian® is a preferred surface for the healthcare industry and for good reason. No special coating is required to prevent the growth of mold and bacteria on Corian®. At room tempertature, Corian® doesn’t emit any gases making it GREENGUARD Certified. There has been concern lately about radon gas being emitted from natural stone surfaces, and it is the 2nd leading cause of lung cancer. With Corian®, the threat of Radon is non-existent.
